Humane has been acquired by HP for $116 million, leading to the discontinuation of its AI Pins. Customers who have already purchased the Pin have been notified that their devices will stop functioning by February 28, 2025, at 12 PM PST.

After that date, the AI Pins will no longer connect to Humane’s servers, rendering them incapable of certain functions. Users are advised to transfer their data to an external device promptly.

Humane will dissolve its customer support team for the AI Pin on February 28. Customers who bought the device in the last 90 days are eligible for a refund, while older purchases are not.

HP is acquiring Humane’s engineers and product managers to form HP IQ, an AI innovation lab. The acquisition includes technology like the CosmOS AI operating system, which could be integrated into HP’s products.

Humane’s journey ends with this acquisition, following a turbulent period of disappointing sales and product issues. The company had initially positioned its AI Pin as a revolutionary device but faced setbacks along the way.

Despite seeking a higher acquisition price earlier, Humane has now found a new home within HP’s ecosystem. The future of the company’s technology lies in the hands of HP’s innovative team.
