The foldable phone market has been thriving for years, with manufacturers constantly innovating to create new form factors. While some companies are focusing on refining existing designs, others are exploring new possibilities behind the scenes.
Recent releases like the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Motorola Razr 50 Ultra have made incremental improvements over their predecessors. However, it seems that Huawei is gearing up to shake up the market with a groundbreaking new device.

According to reports from Securities Daily, Huawei has been developing a ‘tri-fold’ smartphone that can be transformed into a Z-configuration for the past five years. This innovative device, mentioned by Huawei Executive Director Yu Chengdong, is rumored to hit the market by the end of 2024.
A recent patent granted to Huawei suggests that the tri-fold phone will feature a double hinge system, enabling the screen to fold in both directions. With two folds and three distinct screens, the device unfolds to reveal a 10-inch display. It is expected to include a rear-facing camera and utilize lightweight glass to reduce weight and bulk.
Sources from Korea indicate that Chinese display manufacturer BOE will supply the screens for the device. Additionally, the phone is likely to run on HarmonyOS, Huawei’s alternative to Android, and feature the Kirin 9100 processor. The estimated price for the device is around ¥15,000 ($2,065).
