‘Gorilla Tag’ Developer Reveals First Glimpse of Ambitious New Quest Game

The game developer behind the popular VR game Gorilla Tag has unveiled their latest project, now officially named Orion Drift. This new game, previously known as ‘Project AR’, is set to expand on the social aspects that made Gorilla Tag a hit.
Another Axiom, the indie studio responsible for Gorilla Tag, has decided to venture into new territory with Orion Drift. A teaser for the game has been released, showcasing its unique features.
Building upon the arm-based locomotion system of Gorilla Tag, Orion Drift will have players controlling robot avatars. However, the real innovation lies in the game’s social hub and gameplay.
Orion Drift will feature space stations where up to 200 players can interact simultaneously. These stations will offer various arena spaces for different games, including variations of ‘Gorilla Tag’, ‘Tackleball’, and ‘Rocket Race’.
Additionally, players can expect to find a golf course, pickleball courts, and an obstacle race called ‘Scrap Run’. The game hints at more modules being added to the space station, potentially allowing players to customize and create their own activities.
Players may even have the opportunity to build and control their own stations, servers, and rule sets within the game. Another Axiom has mentioned plans for a level editor that would enable players to design their own maps and activities.
At the end of the trailer, multiple space stations are revealed floating through space, hinting at a vast interconnected world for players to explore.
With a focus on seamless social interactions, Orion Drift aims to provide a unique gaming experience where players can easily navigate between different game modes and spaces within the space station.
While the game is still in development, interested players can sign up for a closed early access period on the official Discord server of Another Axiom.
