Google’s Gemini AI can now control your smart home devices
Google is introducing the Google Home extension for the Gemini app to control smart home devices. This includes tasks like adjusting smart lights, checking thermostats, and managing speaker volume.
The Google Home Extension will be available in the coming weeks. Once updated, compatible devices linked to your Google account can be accessed through Gemini. Unsupported commands will redirect to the Google Home app for completion.
Gemini supports various devices such as lights, thermostats, curtains, speakers, TVs, washers, coffee makers, and vacuums. Safety and security tasks are not supported.

For instance, Gemini won’t unlock doors but will guide users to the Google Home app for assistance.
To utilize Gemini’s features, connect Google Home and Gemini apps. Supported devices on the Google Home account will respond to commands in the Gemini app. Some commands to try include setting the ambiance for a date night, adjusting AC for sleep, and controlling lights and TV.
The Google Home extension will roll out in the next few weeks. Stay updated to enjoy the new functionality.
