Update: Some users on social media report that the changelog has been updated to remove mention of Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental. We’ve reached out to Google and will update this post if we hear back.

Google introduced its latest flagship AI model, Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental, in a subtle manner by unveiling it in the changelog of the company’s Gemini chatbot app.

Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental, succeeding the Gemini 1.5 Pro model launched last February, has now become the primary model in Google’s Gemini AI family. It is designed to offer improved factuality and enhanced performance for coding and mathematics-related tasks.

Gemini Advanced, included in Google’s Google One AI Premium paid plan, is now accessible to Gemini Advanced users, offering advanced AI capabilities to tackle complex coding and mathematical challenges with ease.

Google emphasizes that Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental is in an “early preview” stage, which may exhibit “unexpected behaviors” and errors. It does not have real-time information access and lacks compatibility with certain features of the Gemini app.

Alongside the release of Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental, Google has made the Gemini 2.0 Flash model available to all users of the Gemini app, serving as the default model for the app moving forward.
