Google is currently testing a new AI-powered Gemini side panel in Google Calendar that allows users to efficiently and conversationally manage their schedule, create events, and access event details. This feature is part of Google Workspace Labs, the tech giant’s early access testing program.

To access Gemini, simply click on the “Ask Gemini” icon located at the top right corner of your Google Calendar window. From there, you can choose from suggested prompts or create your own.

For example, Gemini might suggest tasks like “Add a lunch event” or “Find your upcoming meeting with a specific person.” If you need more suggestions, you can select the “More suggestions” option.

Alternatively, you can input your own prompts such as “When is my next meeting with Emily?” “How many meetings do I have scheduled for Monday?” or “Set up a weekly workout for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6 AM.”

The goal of this feature is to streamline the process of managing your calendar by utilizing Gemini’s conversational capabilities for quicker task completion.

Google Calendar is the latest Workspace app to incorporate a Gemini side panel, joining other Google applications like Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Chat. The timeline for wider availability of the panel remains unknown at this time.
