Gears of War: Reloaded announced for PC, Xbox Series X|S and PS5

Gears of War: Reloaded is set to make its debut as a multiplatform series, with The Coalition announcing the exciting news. The game is scheduled for release on August 26th and will be available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and for the first time ever, on PS5.

Developed in collaboration with Sumo Interactive and Disbelief, Gears of War: Reloaded is a complete remaster of the original game. This version will boast impressive upgrades such as 4K resolution, 120 FPS support, and cross-play functionality across all platforms for both the two-player co-op campaign and 8-player versus multiplayer modes. Notably, cross-play will not require a Microsoft account, but signing in will enable cross-progression for Campaign and multiplayer.

The extensive list of enhancements includes:

  • 4K resolution
  • 60 FPS in Campaign
  • 120 FPS in Multiplayer
  • High Dynamic Range (HDR)
  • Dolby Vision & 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos
  • 7.1.4 3D Spatial Audio
  • Variable Refresh Rate (VRR)
  • 4K assets and remastered textures
  • Enhanced post-processing visual effects
  • Improved shadows and reflections
  • Super resolution with improved anti-aliasing
  • Zero loading screens during Campaign

The release of Gears of War: Reloaded on PS5 comes as a surprise, delighting fans of the franchise across all platforms. Xbox and PC enthusiasts will also benefit from this remastered version, as it brings the original game back into the spotlight with enhanced performance and visual improvements.

Upon launch, Gears of War: Reloaded will include all previously released DLC, bonus campaigns, multiplayer maps, characters, and cosmetics. Players who purchased Gears of War: Ultimate Edition before May 5th will receive a free upgrade to Gears of War: Reloaded. Otherwise, the game will be available for $39.99 and will also be included in Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

In addition to Gears of War: Reloaded, fans can look forward to Gears of War: E-Day, a prequel to the original game currently in development with People Can Fly co-developing. Rumors of a Gears of War Collection remaster for an August release can now be set aside.
