Gaza’s civil defence agency reported that an Israeli air strike targeted a house in Gaza City on Saturday morning, September 14, 2024, resulting in the tragic death of 11 members of a single family, including women and children.

“We have recovered the bodies of 11 martyrs, including four children and three women, after an Israeli air strike hit the house of the Bustan family in eastern Gaza City,” agency spokesman Mahmud Bassal told the media.

The strike occurred near the Shujaiya school in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza City, according to Bassal.

“Rescuers are continuing to search for the missing,” Mr. Bassal mentioned.

The Israeli military did not provide an immediate response regarding the strike.

According to Mr. Bassal, Israeli forces conducted similar strikes in other parts of the Hamas-run territory overnight, resulting in the deaths of at least 10 individuals.

Five people lost their lives in northwestern Gaza City when an air strike targeted a group of people near Dar Al-Arqam school, he stated.

Three others were killed in a strike in the Al-Mawasi area of the southern Khan Yunis governorate, where tens of thousands of displaced Palestinians have sought refuge, Bassal added.

The conflict in Gaza escalated following the October 7th attack by Hamas on southern Israel, which claimed the lives of 1,205 individuals, predominantly civilians.

Militants also captured 251 hostages during the attack, with 97 still held in Gaza, including 33 that the Israeli military claims are deceased. This total includes hostages who died while in captivity.

Israel’s retaliatory military operations have resulted in the deaths of at least 41,118 individuals in Gaza, as reported by the health ministry of the Hamas-run territory, which does not distinguish between civilian and militant casualties. The UN human rights office has stated that the majority of the casualties have been women or children.
