Galaxy Ring 2 Release Date Could be This Month

It appears that Samsung has something exciting in store for us in early 2025 with the upcoming release of a new smart ring.

Previously, there were discussions in early November about the potential arrival of the Galaxy Ring 2 sooner than expected, but now a more specific date has surfaced.

As preparations for the highly anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event are underway, set to happen on January 22, reports suggest that this flagship event will unveil not only the Galaxy S25 series but also the second iteration of Samsung’s smart ring.

The first-generation Galaxy Ring was introduced in stages, with surprise teasers at the Galaxy S24 series launch in January 2024, a showcase at MWC in February, and a full launch in July of the same year.

In contrast, the Galaxy Ring 2 is expected to launch earlier in the year rather than in the summer, possibly to establish a 12-month refresh cycle. Additionally, Samsung may also introduce its first XR headset at the Unpacked event.

This strategic move indicates Samsung’s aim to position the Ring 2 as a direct competitor to Oura, a company that has sold over 2.5 million smart rings since its establishment in 2013 and recently unveiled the Oura Ring 4.

Rumors from well-known leaker Max Jambor previously suggested that the original Galaxy Ring would be offered in two additional sizes: size 14 (SM-Q514) weighing 3.2g and measuring 23mm inside diameter, and size 15 (SM-Q515) weighing 3.2g and measuring 23.8mm inside diameter.

However, DigiTimes now reports that these additional sizes will actually be available on the Galaxy Ring 2, expanding the total number to 11 sizes, though still not matching the size range of the Oura Ring 4.

Potential upgrades may include more advanced health data sensors, enhanced AI-driven features, and a projected battery life of over seven days.

Despite these improvements, it remains uncertain whether NFC support will be included in this new iteration.
