Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga goes on indefinite hiatus again

Not long after returning from a previous hiatus, it has been announced that the popular manga Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End will be going on hiatus once again.

Fans who have been eagerly awaiting the release of the latest chapter, chapter 140 of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, were treated to the new release this past week in Weekly Shonen Sunday via Shogakukan.

Following the latest volume release, it was revealed that the beloved manga Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End will be going on hiatus again after a brief return from a hiatus in November. Prior to this, the Frieren manga had gone on hiatus in August of the same year, following a previous pause in May.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End made its debut in April 2020, created and written by Kanehito Yamada with artwork by Tsukasa Abe. The series has been officially released in English by Viz Media, and the first season of the anime adaptation is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.

The official synopsis of the series reads, “After the party of heroes defeated the Demon King, they restored peace to the land and returned to lives of solitude. Generations pass, and the elven mage Frieren comes face to face with humanity’s mortality. She takes on a new apprentice and promises to fulfill old friends’ dying wishes. Can an elven mind make peace with the nature of life and death? Frieren embarks on her quest to find out.”

Although the manga for Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is once again on hiatus, a second season by MADHOUSE is currently in production – more information about this can be found here.
