Freddie Freeman’s 3-year-old son is battling ‘rare neurological condition’
Freddie Freeman, the All-Star Dodgers first baseman, is facing a challenging time as his 3-year-old son, Maximus, is hospitalized with a severe case of Guillain-Barré syndrome.
Chelsea Freeman, Freddie’s wife, shared on Instagram that Maximus experienced rapid decline and full body paralysis last Friday. Fortunately, they were able to get him to the hospital in time for medical intervention, particularly to support his lungs.
Maximus has been diagnosed with a severe case of Guillain-Barré syndrome, a rare neurological condition that is even rarer in children. Despite the difficulties, the Freemans are hopeful for Maximus’s recovery as he has shown improvement in the last 48 hours, being able to breathe without assistance.
Freddie Freeman has taken leave from the Dodgers to care for his son, missing the team’s last five games. Chelsea urges everyone to continue praying for Maximus and their family during this challenging time.
Chelsea noticed Maximus’s symptoms when he stopped eating and drinking and became lethargic on July 24. Initially, they thought it was transient synovitis from a viral infection he had during the All-Star Game. Freddie joined them at the hospital after the Dodgers’ game against the Giants.
Freeman left the team in Houston last Friday to be with Maximus, who is now on a journey to recovery with the support of his family, medical team, and prayers from well-wishers.
