Xbox’s popular arcade racing game Forza Horizon 5 is officially coming to PS5 on 29th April, narrowing down the previously mentioned spring release window.

Along with the PS5 release, an update for the game on Xbox and PC will introduce the Horizon Realms feature.

Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 will be available in multiple editions, with pre-orders starting on 25th April. Just like on Xbox Series X, PS5 will offer a 60fps Performance mode and a 30fps Quality mode. PS5 Pro will also have the same frame rate targets, but with enhanced visual fidelity in Performance mode and ray-traced car reflections in Quality mode. These features are exclusive to the PS5 Pro version.

Horizon Realms will bring back 11 locations from the Evolving World update, along with a new location. These locations include:

  • Stunt Park
  • Ice Rink
  • Oval Track
  • Summer Party
  • Neon Airstrip
  • Día de Muertos
  • Winter Wonderland
  • Lunar Drift Arena
  • Retrowave Highway
  • Cars and Coffee
  • Stadium Maze
  • Horizon Stadium Circuit (new)

Players can engage in Skill Score challenges to climb leaderboards or enjoy Free mode for casual gameplay and badge rewards.

While it may seem unusual to see Xbox exclusives on PlayStation, the collaboration between studios is making it possible. The port is being developed by Panic Button in partnership with Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games, ensuring the same content as the original release.

This move aligns with Xbox boss Phil Spencer’s statement that keeping games exclusive is not their strategy. Rumors suggest that other Xbox franchises like Halo, Gears of War, and Microsoft Flight Simulator may also make their way to PlayStation platforms.

Forza Horizon 5, set in Mexico, is the latest installment in Playground Games’ acclaimed open-world racing series. With stunning environments and a variety of gameplay, the game has received critical acclaim since its launch in late 2021.

PlayStation 5 owners can look forward to experiencing the game’s record-breaking success on Xbox Game Pass and its numerous updates, expansions, and car packs.

In our review of Forza Horizon 5, we awarded the game a stellar 9 out of 10, praising its graphical excellence and immersive gameplay.
