The director of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has expressed support for Xbox as a platform, indicating a desire to bring the games to the platform in the near future.

In a recent interview, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi stated that he aims to make the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy available on multiple platforms.

“While we can’t provide specific details regarding Final Fantasy 7 at this time, I am definitely keen on extending the reach of Final Fantasy 7 and the Remake series to a wider audience,” Hamaguchi shared with Gamesradar.

He further mentioned, “Our goal is to facilitate a scenario where more players can experience the games in the future, and we are actively working towards that objective.”

Hamaguchi highlighted the industry shift away from exclusive platform releases, emphasizing the need to adapt to the evolving gaming landscape with multiple platform support.

“This trend transcends Final Fantasy 7; it signifies a broader industry shift towards accommodating the diverse gaming platforms and environments available today,” Hamaguchi explained.

Notably, Square Enix’s new multiplatform approach has already brought Final Fantasy XIV to Xbox, hinting at further expansion to other platforms in the future.

“The industry has become more diversified, prompting our CEO, Mr. [Takashi] Kiryu, to embrace a multiplatform strategy as the new industry standard,” Hamaguchi elaborated.

While not explicitly mentioning Xbox for the release of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy on additional platforms, Hamaguchi expressed admiration for the console, noting its compatibility for the game.

“On a personal note, I am a fan of Xbox and appreciate its hardware capabilities,” he shared. “I believe Xbox is a fantastic platform.”
