Fandango founder J. Michael Cline dead at 64 after jumping from NYC hotel

Fandango founder J. Michael Cline tragically passed away at the age of 64 after falling from the 20th floor of a hotel room in New York City.

Reports from law enforcement sources indicated that Cline was found dead in the third-floor courtyard of The Kimberly Hotel in Manhattan around 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

TMZ revealed that Cline had jumped from a balcony.

Cline left behind a heartbreaking suicide note that expressed his deep regret and love for his loved ones.

His sudden death shocked many as he had recently undergone gallbladder surgery.

Although he founded Fandango in the early 2000s, Cline had left the company years before it faced financial challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic when theaters were forced to close temporarily.

Before his passing, Cline worked as the managing partner at Accretive, a financial firm.

Cline was also involved in various financial companies and was a strong advocate for animal protection, serving as the chairman of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.

Described as a “serial entrepreneur,” Cline was an inspiration to many and had received his MBA from Harvard University.

Cline was married to Pamela and they owned luxurious homes in Greenwich, Conn., the Hamptons, and Palm Beach, Fla.

His family has not yet made a public statement regarding his death.

Almost two years prior to Cline’s passing, Gustavo Arnal, the chief financial officer of Bed Bath & Beyond, also tragically jumped to his death in New York City.
