According to reports, two individuals allegedly pretended to be Amazon workers and viciously attacked an elderly homeowner with a sledgehammer during a disturbing home invasion in Georgia.

Surveillance footage captured the moment the two men, disguised in Amazon work jackets, approached George “Dirk” Hardison’s front door in Savannah, Ga. on January 11.

The intruders forced their way inside and assaulted Hardison, 66, with a sledgehammer for about eight minutes, as per a police report cited by WTOC.

Savannah Mayor Van Johnson condemned the incident as a “targeted” attack and assured that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.

Police are urging the public to come forward with any information that could help identify the fake Amazon workers involved in the assault.

Hardison, who works as a bartender, is currently undergoing recovery and rehabilitation, with a GoFundMe page set up to support his journey.

The suspects, described as two young black males in their 20s, were confirmed not to be affiliated with Amazon by a company spokesperson.

Amazon stated, “Based on our internal investigation, we can confirm that these individuals were not making a scheduled delivery for Amazon.”
