Facebook now lets creators get paid for views on stories
Facebook has introduced a new monetization option for creators, allowing them to earn money for views on public stories. This feature is now available worldwide for creators enrolled in the Facebook Content Monetization program.
With this new option, creators can generate income from the content they already create and share by posting it to their Facebook story. Whether it’s a recipe video, a reel, or everyday life updates, creators can now earn money through their stories.
While Facebook has not disclosed the payment structure for story monetization, this move aims to provide creators with an additional revenue stream to incentivize more content creation on the platform. The company’s efforts to attract TikTok creators with incentives like cash bonuses and content deals have also been ongoing.
Creators who are part of the Facebook Content Monetization program and have enabled content monetization will automatically have access to story monetization. This program, launched last year, consolidates various monetization programs into one, offering creators more opportunities to earn from their content.
In 2024, millions of creators were invited to join the program, with open enrollment expected later this year. Those not yet part of the program can express their interest through the program’s website for a potential invitation.
Facebook shared that creators earned over $2 billion on the platform in 2024, with significant growth in payouts for Reels and short videos. Since 2017, Facebook has paid out to over 4 million creators, showcasing the platform’s commitment to supporting content creators.
