Evercade unveils its latest cartridge release - Indie Heroes Collection 4

In 2024, the Evercade family saw significant growth with the introduction of new hardware such as the revised EXP-R, the tabletop Evercade Alpha, and the Gameboy-styled HyperMegaTech Super Pockets. Additionally, a steady flow of new cartridges was made available for gaming enthusiasts. This trend is set to continue in 2025 with exciting new announcements on the horizon. The first software release of the year is the Indie Heroes Collection 4, a carefully curated selection of modern-retro games from various indie developers.

This collection features 11 diverse games spanning genres like puzzlers, platformers, and action-adventures, promising hours of entertainment. With a touch of Jane Austen included, there’s even an educational element to the mix (no guarantees on academic improvement from Evercade, though).

The games featured in Indie Heroes Collection 4 are:

  • The Curse of Illmoore Bay – Action-packed platformer battling supernatural forces.
  • Block’Em Sock’Em – Fast-paced puzzle brawler combining strategy and chaos.
  • Nyghtmare: The Ninth King – Dark fantasy action-adventure exploring a haunting realm.
  • Jane Austen’s 8-bit Adventure – Charming literary-inspired journey filled with wit and puzzles.
  • Collie Defense – Quirky defense game requiring strategic territory protection.
  • Flea!2 – Zany sequel to a cult classic, offering bounce-back action.
  • Batty Zabella – Delightfully eerie adventure with spooky vibes.
  • Murtop – High-energy retro game mixing explosive arcade fun with burrowing mayhem.
  • Soko Banana – Puzzling delight guiding a clever monkey through complex mazes.
  • Starseed – Sci-fi action adventure embarking on an intergalactic journey.
  • Block Droppin’ – Addictive block-dropping arcade game testing reflexes.

Sean Cleaver, Head of Marketing for Blaze Entertainment, expressed, “With Indie Heroes Collection 4, we continue to celebrate the incredible creativity of the indie gaming community. This collection offers something for everyone, from gripping adventures to mind-bending puzzles and nostalgic platformers, showcasing the thriving modern retro scene.”

The new cartridge, part of the red-colored home console line and numbered #43, will fit seamlessly into existing collections. Priced at £19.99, $24.99, and €24.99, it is set to release in February 2025. Pre-orders will be available starting January 30th through Evercade retailers.
