Empire of the Ants gets an ant-tastic trailer and a release date!

With so many games vying for our attention these days, it can be difficult to choose favorites. However, Empire of the Ants has definitely caught our eye. Based on Bernard Werber’s ant-centric novel, this real-time strategy game delves into the intricate world of ants and the various insect creatures they encounter and control.

Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the visuals in Empire of the Ants are incredibly lifelike, pushing the boundaries of realism in gaming. Fans of the indie RTS Empires of the Undergrowth will find familiar elements here, especially in the ant troops’ attacks. Playing as a specific ant – the 103,683e, to be precise – gives the gameplay a Pikmin-like feel as you directly command your groups.

The game also promises a lot of exploration, as your hero ant navigates through blades of grass, climbs branches, and traverses dirt, encountering a variety of landscapes and human artifacts like a decaying football. Developer Tower 5’s previous title, Lornsword Winter Chronicle, demonstrated their ability to blend strategic gameplay with a compelling narrative, so we can expect a similar approach in Empire of the Ants.

Bernard Werber’s Empire of the Ants has a huge following, with millions of readers captivated by its story. The original video game adaptation in 2000 may not have received critical acclaim, but it did offer over 60 different insect species to interact with. Hopefully, the new game will provide a similar level of diversity and engagement.

Empire of the Ants is set to release on November 9, 2024, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Keep an eye on TheSIxthAxis for more updates!
