Elden Ring Nightreign? The Duskbloods? Who needs them, now that Dark Souls' seamless co-op mod is here

You have the option to cancel your pre-order for Elden Ring Nightreign or hold off on purchasing a Switch 2 for the upcoming The Duskbloods release. This is because there is a compelling reason to revisit the original Dark Souls. Recently, modder Yui released the Dark Souls Remastered seamless co-op mod, allowing players to enjoy online co-op with minimal interruptions.

Yui showcased the mod in action on her YouTube channel, demonstrating its functionality. She mentioned that this is an early release, so there might be a few bugs that need addressing. She encourages users to report any issues they encounter.

In an interview with Polygon, Yui explained that creating this mod was relatively easier compared to her Elden Ring co-op mod. However, she faced challenges due to the age of Dark Souls. One significant accomplishment was ensuring that parts of the game wouldn’t unload if players strayed too far from the host. Overall, the mod appears to be functioning well, offering a unique co-op experience for those who find the traditional Souls games’ co-op mechanics lacking.

The mod allows for up to six players to join in, and progress is saved in each player’s copy of the game, even if they are not the host. Unlike the base game, enemy strength scales based on the number of players, providing a more challenging experience.

This mod presents a great way to pass the time before the release of Elden Ring Nightreign next month.
