Elden Ring Nightreign is no Bloodborne 2, but you can dress up as a hunter at the very least

We are getting closer to the release of Elden Ring Nightreign, with the spinoff game set to launch at the end of the month. Some players have already had the chance to experience it, unlike James who struggled during the test back in February. To give us a better understanding of what to expect, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco released an overview trailer yesterday that delves into the gameplay of this Fortniteish Souls game.
When you first enter Limveld, you will start as a level one character. From there, you can engage in battles with regular enemies, explore treasure chests, and participate in activities similar to the original Elden Ring. One unique aspect is the opportunity to infiltrate bases to gather information from maps about the land. Additionally, there are formidable enemies that pose a challenge and offer greater rewards if defeated.

Another interesting feature is the occurrence of random events. The maps change with each session, sometimes dramatically. Events like volcanic eruptions or traversing through rot-filled woods add variety to the gameplay. There is also the possibility of encountering characters like the one who refers to you as a foul tarnished. The game offers a lot of diversity in its gameplay.
The game introduces a shrinking circle storm mechanic that forces players into a small area by nightfall, where they must face tougher enemies. The Roundtable Hold serves as a location to equip relics that provide various effects such as stat buffs and improved skills. The game also features an in-game currency called murk for purchasing outfits and customization options for preset characters, including a Solaire of Astora costume and references to other characters like the hunter outfit from Bloodborne.
Players can uncover fragments that reveal bits of the Nightfarers’ backstory, as well as engaging in boss fights if they reach the third day in a session. Despite the lack of character creation, the game offers a deep level of customization and storytelling elements. The concept of Nightreign may not appeal to everyone, but it presents a unique way to utilize assets. The final judgment will have to wait until the game’s launch on May 30th.
