Edward Kenway's voice actor hints at a Black Flag remake

Matt Ryan, the voice actor for Edward Kenway in Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, was recently captured on camera signing merchandise at a convention. As he autographs his name, he looks up at the camera and inquires, “Have you beaten the game?” to which the individual behind the camera responds, “I have, a while ago.”

“You might need to beat it again,” Matt suggests with a mischievous grin on his face.

Ubisoft has hinted at potential remakes of Assassin’s Creed games, although none have materialized yet. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is often praised as one of the franchise’s finest entries, and speculation about a remake has circulated for several years.

MP1st recently revealed that the remake would utilize the Anvil engine and “will introduce new systems, with enhancements to combat and wildlife ecosystems.” There’s speculation that the remake could launch later this year, possibly targeting the lucrative Christmas market.

Meanwhile, Insider Gaming noticed a potential leak from Pure Arts, a company known for creating statues based on video game characters. During a broadcast, one host hinted at something in the works for Edward Kenway, only to be interrupted by the other host who appeared flustered, questioning if the announcement had been made public.

“I believe so, I’m certain I saw rumors about it. No, I definitely read an article about it,” he continued. “So there’s something brewing with Edward, and our PVC 1/8th scale statue will reflect those changes accordingly.”

When initially released in 2013, we awarded the game a score of 9/10

“Black Flag not only marks a return to form for Assassin’s Creed but also stands as a significant improvement, possibly becoming the pinnacle of the series,” expressed Gareth. “It takes the core gameplay elements from its predecessors, polishes them, and merges them with a vast open world brimming with content that can keep players engaged for days on end. If you’ve ever dreamed of a true pirate experience, this game delivers that and more.”
