Dynasty Warriors: Origins release date confirmed – watch 23 minutes of gameplay

Koei Tecmo has officially announced that Dynasty Warriors: Origins will be released on January 17th, 2025. This upcoming reboot of the series takes players back to ancient China.

During TGS 2024, fans were given a detailed look at Dynasty Warriors: Origins in a 23-minute gameplay preview with producer Tomohiko Sho. This preview showcases exciting new features that players can expect. You can watch the preview in full here.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins retains the classic “1 vs. 1,000” hack and slash combat that the series is known for. However, developer Omega Force has made some welcome tweaks and additions to refresh the battle system. Players will have more defensive and strategic options, including the ability to use ally grunts and tactical abilities to gain an advantage.

Players will still engage in epic battles, earning Bravery to unleash Arts – special moves that vary based on the equipped weapon. Enemy officers pose a greater threat in Origins, requiring players to break down their powerful aura before defeating them. Duels with enemy officers will create intense showdowns with nearby troops forming an arena around the combatants.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins addresses the shortcomings of its predecessor, Dynasty Warriors 9, by focusing on improving combat mechanics. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
