Dragon Age: The Veilguard won't get expansions, reports say, as BioWare move to the next Mass Effect

Recent reports suggest that BioWare does not have any plans for Dragon Age: The Veilguard expansions. Instead, the studio will focus on providing smaller updates for the fantasy RPG and shift their attention to the development of Mass Effect 5.

According to Rolling Stone, BioWare’s creative director John Epler mentioned that there are no DLC plans for The Veilguard as the team gears up for the next installment in the Mass Effect series.

While specific details are not confirmed, IGN reports that BioWare is aiming to release quality-of-life improvements and smaller content updates for The Veilguard, rather than full expansions.

Historically, BioWare has supported their games with significant story DLC. Previous titles like Inquisition received multiple expansions such as Jaws Of Hakkon, The Descent, and the epilogue, Trespasser.

Considering the complexity of developing video games, completing The Veilguard already required a considerable amount of time. Some players appreciate a complete story experience at launch without the need for additional post-release content.

(Although exceptions like Cyberpunk 2077, which some wish had more expansions, exist.)
