DOGE sends out a second email requiring executive branch employees with new requirement

Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency has issued a second mass email to executive branch employees, requesting them to report their weekly accomplishments by Monday midnight. However, this time, classified information is exempted from the requirement.

The new email, titled “What did you do last week? Part II,” was sent out via the Office of Personnel Management on Saturday night, following last week’s controversial DOGE email.

Employees are instructed to list 5 bullet points outlining their accomplishments from the previous week by 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday.

The latest directive includes a provision for agencies dealing with classified information to be exempt from the additional reporting.

Employees were advised not to include any links, attachments, or sensitive information in their responses. They were also given the option to declare that all their activities are sensitive.

“Going forward, please complete the above task each week by Monday at 11:59pmET,” the email emphasized.

Despite resistance from some agency heads appointed by Trump, Musk reiterated that the email initiative is mandatory.

During a cabinet meeting, Musk clarified that the purpose of the email was not a performance review but a “pulse check review” to ensure accountability in the government workforce.

He also humorously mentioned the possibility of inactive government employees, stating, “We think there are a number of people on the government payroll who are dead, which is probably why they can’t respond.”

President Trump warned that those who fail to respond to the email risk being fired during a meeting with French President Macron in the Oval Office.
