Disney’s Snow White Streaming, VOD, DVD and Blu-ray Release Dates

Since its inception, the live-action adaptation of the beloved Snow White animation has been met with controversy.

Some critics have pointed out that the original story contains outdated themes such as the damsel in distress trope. Others, including actor Peter Dinklage from Game of Thrones, have described the tale as a “backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together.” Despite the use of computer-generated imagery for the seven magical creatures, criticism persisted. Many viewers found the CGI characters to be artificial and grotesque, while some individuals from the dwarfism and little people community felt that their acting opportunities were being taken away.

Adding to the controversy were prejudiced remarks on social media regarding the casting of actress Rachel Zegler, who is of Colombian descent, in the lead role.

The new Disney live-action film will premiere on Friday, March 21, 2025.

In the UK, tickets can be booked through Vue, Showcase, Odeon, or Cineworld websites.

In the US, tickets are available on AMC Theatres or Fandango.

When will Snow White be released on VOD?

Disney has not yet announced the digital release date for the Snow White live-action remake. Typically, Disney movies become available on digital platforms between 60 and 67 days after their theatrical debut.

For example, The Lion King, Disney’s most recent live-action remake, was available for purchase and rental 60 days after its release, while Moana 2 was on VOD after 62 days. It seems that the box office performance does not significantly impact Disney’s release schedule.

Therefore, we anticipate that Snow White will be available on digital platforms between May 20, 2025, and May 27, 2025.

These dates are estimates and will be updated once Disney confirms the VOD release date.

When will Snow White be released on streaming services?

Following the pattern of Moana 2 and The Lion King, we expect Snow White to debut on Disney+ after its VOD release. Moana 2 appeared on the service 43 days after its digital release, while The Lion King took 36 days.

Therefore, Snow White may be available on Disney+ between June 25, 2025, and July 9, 2025.

It is possible that the movie will first be released on DVD and Blu-ray, similar to Inside Out 2. We will update this information as soon as it becomes available.

When will Snow White be released on DVD/Blu-ray?

We anticipate that physical copies of Snow White will be released last, typically 5-6 days after its availability on Disney+. This was the case for Moana 2 and The Lion King.
