Disney Cruise ship rescues stranded boaters off Bermuda coast
A Disney Cruise ship en route to Bermuda came to the rescue of four stranded boaters on a sinking catamaran on Sunday morning.
The 50-foot catamaran, named Serenity, suffered a gasket failure in the escape hatch, causing the vessel to take on water approximately 230 miles off the coast of Bermuda, as reported by ABC7.
Distressed passengers on board the Serenity reached out for help, prompting a swift response from the Disney Treasure, a cruise liner based in Port Canaveral, Florida.
The Disney vessel heeded the US Coast Guard’s distress call from 80 miles away, deploying one of its smaller boats to rescue the four shipwrecked boaters.
“We are pleased that the Disney Treasure was able to provide aid to the boat passengers in peril. Our crew members worked together on the rescue, skillfully demonstrating their training and commitment to safety,” stated Disney Treasure Captain Marco Nogara in a statement to the outlet.
As per a spokesperson for the cruise line, the Disney Treasure was en route from Eemshaven, Netherlands, to Port Canaveral, Florida, at the time of the incident.

All four boaters were safely rescued and did not report any medical issues.
