Derek Jeter (Finally) Snags a Buyer for His New York Castle

Derek Jeter, the iconic Yankees legend, has finally found a buyer for his estate in Orange County, N.Y. The four-acre lakefront property, known as Tiedemann Castle, went into contract after being re-listed for less than half of its original asking price. The estate includes a main house, guesthouse, pool house, and boat house, totaling more than 12,500 square feet with six bedrooms and 13 bathrooms.

Originally listed for over $14 million, the asking price was reduced to $6.3 million this year. The sale is currently pending, marking a significant milestone after the property failed to sell at auction two years ago. The listing agent, Diane Mitchell of Wright Brothers Real Estate, expressed her excitement about the deal finally being under contract.

Featuring five kitchens, an infinity pool shaped like a baseball diamond, a game room, and turrets, the century-old home exudes luxury and elegance. The property, purchased by Jeter in the early 2000s, has been compared to a medieval castle and boasts a range of extravagant amenities.

In recent years, Jeter has been streamlining his real estate portfolio, including selling his mansion in Tampa, Fla., for $22.5 million in 2021. The property in Greenwood Lake holds sentimental value for Jeter, as it was a place where he spent summers with his grandfather, William “Sonny” Connors. The estate was previously owned by John and Julia Tiedemann, who were like family to Jeter’s grandfather.
