Dead Cells developer's new action-roguelike Windblown is getting a demo and Early Access release this month

Windblown is an action roguelite similar to Dead Cells, created by developer Motion Twin. However, it sets itself apart by featuring a 3D and more vibrant world, along with the addition of co-op gameplay for up to three players. The game is set to release on October 24th.

Excitingly, a singleplayer demo will be available on October 14th as part of the Steam Next Fest.

While Dead Cells was praised for its combat and progression system, Windblown aims to offer a comparable experience in a new setting of floating sky islands. The dash mechanic plays a crucial role in the gameplay, as highlighted in Edwin’s impressions from a Windblown presentation at GDC.

“Windblown’s dash reflects the player’s impatience to quickly return to previously explored areas, emphasizing the roguelike nature of the game. However, challenges like boss enemies and the need to gather equipment add depth to the gameplay,” Edwin explained.

Reflecting on the early days of Dead Cells, where fast-paced gameplay was prevalent, the author expresses a desire to experience a similar journey with Windblown. The upcoming demo provides a glimpse into what the game has to offer, allowing progress made in the demo to carry over to the full game upon release.
