Darkest Dungeon II free Kingdoms update part one coming this year

Darkest Dungeon II is set to receive a significant expansion called Kingdoms, which will be free for players. Additionally, there will be a paid DLC titled Inhuman Bondage, with Red Hook Studios revealing details about both upcoming additions. Inhuman Bondage is scheduled for release in Q4 2024 and will introduce a new Hero with unique trinkets, weapons, palettes, and gameplay mechanics. The DLC will also include a new region comparable in size to the Sluice, featuring a new enemy faction and items.

The Kingdoms campaign will be divided into three parts, with the first installment being Hunger of the Beast Clan. In this chapter, players must defend the realm against a new enemy faction known as the beast men. They will embark on quests across the land and upgrade inns throughout the realm. Kingdoms will unfold alongside the main Confessions campaign.

In a review of Darkest Dungeon II, Steve stated, “Darkest Dungeon II is to be commended for its willingness to evolve from its predecessor. The game retains its distinctive style, challenge, and strategic depth, setting it apart. However, the increased focus on roguelike elements and extensive grinding may not resonate with all players. If you have the patience to delve into the intricate mechanics and the resilience to cope with inevitable setbacks and losses, then this journey is worth undertaking. Just be prepared for a challenging experience.”
