Daniel Penny has proven there's no case against him -- he should be cleared today

The charge of negligent homicide faced by Daniel Penny today is seen as a desperate attempt by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg to appease a minority of progressive activists with a trial that should never have taken place.

After the jury twice failed to reach a consensus on the manslaughter charge, the defense called for a mistrial, which should have been the end of it.

However, Assistant District Attorney Dafna Yoran decided to drop the manslaughter charge and move on to a lesser charge.

Judge Maxwell Wiley agreed with the prosecutors, and the more serious charge of manslaughter, which carried a possible 15-year sentence, was dropped.

The decision to drop the manslaughter charge was surprising, considering Yoran’s strong efforts to pursue it. She accused Penny of lying to the police and lacking remorse.

Contrary to the prosecution’s claims, Penny was not a reckless troublemaker. He cooperated with the police and expressed that he did not intend to harm Neely.

Left’s deluded diatribe

Outside the courthouse, BLM leader Hawk Newsome made inflammatory remarks about racism, claiming that anyone who believes Penny is innocent is a racist. His sentiments were met with minimal support.

Throughout the trial, the number of protesters outside dwindled, and prominent politicians who initially spoke out have since remained silent.

AOC, who previously called for Penny to be charged, has been notably quiet, realizing that the left-wing narrative was inaccurate and damaging.

Despite the media frenzy in 2023, portraying Penny as a white vigilante, the trial has revealed his act of bravery in protecting subway passengers from a violent individual.

Righting a legal wrong

Witnesses of various races testified in court that Neely was a threat unlike any other subway aggressor, and Penny’s actions were commendable. The true justice in this case would be Penny walking free.

It is time for our leaders to prioritize restoring safety in our city over misguided activism that has jeopardized public safety.
