Outbound

From A Hat in Time to Summer in Mara, cozy games tend to do very well on Kickstarter. Outbound is the latest game in the cozy genre to exceed its Kickstarter funding goal.

With an initial funding goal of $33,407, Outbound has raised nearly $200,000 on Kickstarter with almost two weeks remaining to gather more funds. In a world saturated with horror content, the appeal of a light-hearted gaming experience is evident.

Outbound is currently in development for Windows PC (via Steam) and will also be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PS4, and PS5.

Described as a cozy camper-van exploration and crafting game with a focus on sustainability, Outbound is set in a future where humanity has successfully overcome climate change and pollution. The game world showcases wind farms and eliminates coal and oil mining.

Often categorized as solarpunk, Outbound presents a hopeful world with vibrant colors, a stark contrast to the dystopian themes of cyberpunk. The game has resonated with Kickstarter’s community, surpassing all stretch goals and promising players the inclusion of an animal companion on their journey.

Set for release in January 2026, backers of Outbound on Kickstarter will have early access in the summer of 2025. Additional rewards include opportunities to design game areas and unlock unique skins.
