Classic Counter-Strike map Train returns in CS2 with a total overhaul, making it “60% cloudier”

Train, one of Counter-Strike’s most iconic maps, has undergone a significant update in Counter-Strike 2. Valve has completely revamped the trainyard, giving it a “full visual overhaul” that includes making it “60% cloudier” and adjusting the layout to promote more strategic gameplay beyond just sniper battles down narrow corridors.
Traditionally, Train was a bright but somewhat bland map set in a rundown trainyard. To shake things up, Valve has introduced a fresh new look. The addition of rain brings puddles, reflections, and a unique ambiance not found in other CS2 maps. Graffiti adorns large tankers, visible rust adds character, and cracks in the concrete give the impression of a location frequented by graffiti artists during lulls between firefights.
One of the notable changes between the old and new Train is the expansion of sightlines. Previously cramped spaces between train cars favored snipers and limited combat variety. With wider sightlines, players can expect more diverse engagements.
While it’s still early to determine if Train is “competitive ready,” there have been discussions about spawn issues for both teams that may impact fair gameplay.
In addition to the Train update, Valve has also made adjustments to Overpass based on community feedback. Four new community maps—Basalt, Edin, Palais, and Whistle—have been introduced as well.
