Citizen Sleeper now has a free solo tabletop RPG

My guilty pleasure is indulging in various solo tabletop RPG projects throughout the year, even if I don’t always end up playing them. I love reading microfiction through tables and lists that correspond to dice rolls, and I find TTRPGs to be creative writing artifacts that I enjoy, even if they don’t always function as games. That’s why I’m excited about Spindlejack – a print and play solo game set in the Citizen Sleeper universe, which you can download for free on itch.io.

In Spindlejack, you take on the role of a space courier navigating the Starward Belt, inspired by Kadet from Citizen Sleeper 2. To play, you’ll need 10 six-sided dice, a pencil, eraser, and some counters. Using the dice, you’ll randomly map out the intersections you travel through as you deliver packages and upgrade your airbike. Here’s a glimpse into the setting:

On the Far Spindle, in the Starward Belt, Spindlejacks are known for their daring courier work on custom airbikes. They transport sensitive messages and packages through the station’s tunnels, alongside massive cargo haulers, and are rumored to have a thrill-seeking nature. But as one of them, you understand the excitement, competition, and camaraderie that drives you to keep riding.

Of course, you’ll also need a printer to enjoy this game. Despite my disdain for these devices, if you can navigate through the frustrations of using one, Spindlejack promises to be a fun experience. For more insight, check out Brendy’s interview with creator Gareth Damian Martin here.
