Circular Ring 2 with ECG support is up for pre-orders with two big tricks in tow

After unveiling its second-generation smart ring nearly two months ago, Circular has now opened pre-orders for the Ring 2, with shipping set to begin in June. This latest model represents a significant upgrade and a chance for redemption following the lukewarm reception of its predecessor.

Constructed from jewelry-grade titanium, the Ring 2 boasts an ECG, PPG, and temperature sensor. It can track heart rate, HRV, blood oxygen saturation levels, and electrocardiogram activity.

Circular claims that the Ring 2 is the first FDA-cleared smart ring to offer ECG measurement, a feature popularized by the Apple Watch and now adopted by various brands.

The Ring 2 is designed to monitor over 140 biomarkers, enabling it to track sleep, energy levels, stress, recovery time, and more. The built-in AI assistant can analyze the data gathered and provide personalized insights.

The Ring 2 has also been cleared for AFib detection, a heart condition resulting from irregular cardiac activity. Additionally, it includes a Women’s Health Suite, offering insights into cycle tracking, fertility, and women’s wellness trends.

With an IP68 rating, the Ring 2 is suitable for swimming and workouts. It promises a seven-day battery life and can be fully charged in just 30 minutes.

The Ring 2 is available in Obsidian Black, Gold, Silver, and Rose Gold colors. Early pre-orders can save up to $310, with a discounted price of $239 instead of the regular $549.

Solving two major issues

Circular adopts a no-subscription model for its smart rings, unlike some competitors. Users pay a one-time fee for the device without ongoing subscription costs.

The companion app features a digital coin system that rewards users for meeting activity goals and healthy habits, such as adequate sleep. These coins unlock exclusive features and perks within the app.

The Ring 2 addresses the inconvenience of sizing kits typically used by smart ring brands. Circular introduces a “Digital Ring Sizing technology” that simplifies the process by taking measurements through the app’s in-camera preview.
