Carlos Alcaraz fumes over hectic tennis calendar: ‘Going to kill us’
Carlos Alcaraz Expresses Frustration with Tennis Schedule
Carlos Alcaraz, the Spanish tennis star, has recently spoken out about his dissatisfaction with the demanding schedule he has faced over the past year. Despite a successful start to 2024 with wins at Wimbledon and the French Open, as well as securing an Olympic silver medal, Alcaraz has faced setbacks in tournaments like the National Bank Open in Montreal, the Cincinnati Open, and the U.S. Open.
In a recent statement, Alcaraz expressed concerns about the toll the schedule is taking on players, saying, “Probably they are going to kill us in some way.” Despite being a four-time Grand Slam singles winner and previously ranked No. 1 in the world, Alcaraz has dropped to No. 3 this year.
During the Laver Cup in Berlin, where he helped Team Europe secure a victory over Team World, Alcaraz reflected on the challenges of the schedule, admitting, “Sometimes, you don’t want to go to a tournament. I’m not going to lie, I have felt this way a few times already.”
Despite the challenges, Alcaraz emphasized the importance of enjoying the game and staying motivated. He stated, “I play my best tennis when I smile and enjoy it on court. That’s the best option to keep motivating (myself).”
