Reports from broadcaster MDR and other local media indicate that a car has driven into a crowd at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany. According to local government officials, at least one person has been killed and several others injured, as reported by MDR. The suspected driver has been taken into custody.

Authorities have not yet provided official comments on the incident. Eyewitnesses described the car driving directly into the crowd at the market, heading towards the town hall. The market manager instructed people to evacuate the city center, with a significant presence of police and emergency services on the scene.

It is reminiscent of a similar tragedy that occurred eight years ago in Berlin, where a truck driven by a failed Tunisian asylum seeker caused devastation at a Christmas market, resulting in 12 fatalities and numerous injuries.
