Do you remember the Summer of Doronko Wanko? I recall it vividly, even though it felt more like March than Summer when this charming free game featuring a messy pomeranian was launched. The game, which roughly translates to ‘covered in mud doggy’, challenged players to cause financial damage to their owner’s house by spreading mud everywhere – first through normal dog activities, and then with giant mud cannons. You can download it for free on Steam.

This game truly captured our hearts. And speaking of fun and mischief, Doronko Wanko will soon be available on the Nintendo Switch, with the Steam version receiving free DLC in celebration. While the DLC won’t be released until next Spring, it will introduce three new mystery dog breeds.

There isn’t much additional information available at the moment, but the positive reception to this delightful game has been heartwarming. It quickly rose to an ‘overwhelmingly positive’ rating on Steam. One review cleverly describes it as a “reverse PowerWash Simulator”.

As part of Bandai Namco’s 2023 New Employee Training Project, this game was released alongside two other freebies. This initiative allows new employees to gain experience and support in releasing smaller projects before moving on to larger games. It was a refreshing piece of gaming news without any depressing caveats, although there’s always someone ready to spoil the fun.
