Blue June

We are witnessing the rise of indie horror games, with a variety of unique titles catering to different preferences, from games featuring killer animatronics like Five Nights At Freddy’s to fishing simulation games infused with cosmic horror elements like Dredge.

However, one particular setting that hasn’t been explored much in the horror genre is that of a bustling college campus. While abandoned schools have been a common theme in some games, such as Gylt, the upcoming game Blue June aims to change that. I found the premise of Blue June on Kickstarter intriguing, which led me to back the project.

Blue June is a 2.5D story-driven horror adventure game that incorporates exploration and puzzle-solving elements. Successfully crowdfunded on Kickstarter in the summer of 2021, the game is gearing up for a major announcement regarding its release.

The developer, Tiny Dodo, recently updated backers in the comments section of the Kickstarter campaign, stating that a complete beta build is almost ready and exciting news will be shared soon.

Below is an overview of the game along with its latest trailer:

Blue June is a 2.5D story-driven adventure game featuring exploration, puzzle-solving, stealth, and horror elements. Players take on the role of June, a student at the prestigious Rose Hill Academy, as they unravel the mysteries lurking within her mind.

STORY

A young girl is haunted by terrifying nightmares that gradually draw her into the past. As the real world starts to feel alien, with colors, sounds, and scents changing, the boundary between dreams and reality blurs. The dream world begins to encroach on the waking world, blurring the line between the two.

GAMEPLAY

Players will guide June through her nightmares, interacting with people, objects, and environments. Puzzles will escalate in complexity as June’s nightmares intensify, requiring keen observation and problem-solving skills. While the main story progression is straightforward, discovering collectibles and hidden paths may demand extra effort.
