Bithell Games is making TRON: Catalyst, an isometric action adventure
Big Fan Games – a new licensed IP branch of Devolver Digital – and developer Bithell Games have announced TRON: Catalyst, a new isometric action adventure that is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2025.
Tron: Catalyst is a new story-driven game that will further explore the Arq Grid that was created for Bithell’s last game, Tron: Identity. However, where that took the form of a visual novel, this is an isometric action adventure game.
You’ll play as Exo, a courier program that has the unexpected power known as the Glitch, and who is gaining strength and abilities as the Arq Grid’s overlords look to hunt them down – the Peacekeepers and the malevolent program Conn are hot on their tail throughout. You’ll naturally get to enjoy some Tron staples through this, including Identity Disc combat and riding Light Cycles, exploring both the city and going beyond.
Glitches will allow you the ability to roll back time, rewinding events and using time loops that only you can see to uncover secret areas and shortcuts, as well as manipulate the factions in the game’s story.
It’s great to see Bithell Games exploring this setting again, after the well received Tron: Identity, which dropped you into a detective story and visual novel – a genre that Bithell had explored previously with the Subsurface Circular and Quarantine Circular. This, however, jumps back into more action oriented gameplay, something he and his studio haven’t tried to tackle since Volume – John Wick Hex was turn-based tactical, as opposed to outright action.
