Tablets are experiencing something of a renaissance.

Despite never quite fulfilling early potential as a laptop replacement, the tablet’s large screen still offers plenty of benefits compared to smartphones.

There’s also more choice than ever before in 2025, with lots of Android phone makers joining the party. The list below includes iPads and Samsung Galaxy Tabs, but also devices from the likes of Google, OnePlus, and Honor, plus the ReMarkable 2 as a compelling E Ink option.

If productivity is your top priority, a Windows tablet might be a better option. Also, many of the best budget tablets are Amazon Fire devices.

It’s worth noting that the latest 10.9-inch iPad, iPad Air, and Xiaomi Pad 7 are missing from this list, but look out for our reviews of all three soon.
