Bayonetta developer Platinum Games is hiring for a new online action game, even after many long-time staff have departed for other studios

Platinum Games is currently seeking new talent for an upcoming online action game after experiencing the departure of some prominent developers from the company.

Recently highlighted by Tech4Gamers, the company has posted a job listing for a game designer position on its official website, revealing that an online action game is in development at the studio. The job requirements include prior experience in working on online action games and a background in level design for online or “open field” games.

Platinum Games, currently collaborating on Ninja Gaiden 4 with Team Ninja, has had a mixed track record in recent years. While Bayonetta 3 received positive reviews, Babylon’s Fall faced significant challenges, and key developers, including Hideki Kamiya, have left the company.

Following the reception of Babylon’s Fall, the online action game mentioned in the job listing would mark the studio’s second venture into this genre. Despite critical acclaim for their single-player games like Astral Chain, financial success has been elusive for Platinum Games. The shift towards online games aligns with a strategic business decision, even if it may shift focus away from the traditional fan-favorite titles.

Considering Platinum Games’ current focus on hiring for the online action game, its release may not be imminent. However, it remains a project worth following as the studio continues to work on multiple titles, including Ninja Gaiden 4. While the recent years have brought changes for Platinum Games, their ongoing projects indicate a promising future.
