Attention, trainers: The Pokemon World Championship dates have been set for this summer

If you enjoy watching top Pokemon trainers from around the world compete, you’ll be pleased to know that the dates for the World Championships have been confirmed.

Last year, The Pokemon Company announced that the 2024 Pokemon World Championships would be held in Honolulu, Hawai’i for the first time. The Pokemon Europe International Championships recently took place, and following the event, the official Play Pokemon Twitter account confirmed that Pokemon Worlds will be held on August 16-18 at the Hawai’i Convention Center. While participation in various tournaments is required to qualify for Worlds, spectators are welcome to attend the event.

The announcement of Pokemon Worlds being held in Honolulu was made amidst challenging times last year, as Hawai’i was facing widespread wildfires. In response, The Pokemon Company donated $200,000 to support relief efforts. It’s worth noting that many native Hawaiians express concerns about the impact of tourism on the state, urging visitors to show respect for the local community and wildlife. Some even suggest that tourists should reconsider visiting altogether. If you plan to attend Pokemon Worlds in Hawai’i, consider these factors before making your decision.

In February, Game Freak announced their latest project, a new installment in the Pokemon Legends series titled Pokemon Legends Z-A. This game will be set in the Kalos region from Pokemon X and Y, with a futuristic setting unlike the past-themed Legends Arceus. While no release date has been revealed yet, fans eagerly anticipate updates from The Pokemon Company during future Pokemon Presents events.
