Assassin's Creed Shadows is getting a much-needed parkour update

Ubisoft has unveiled the year one update roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the open-world weather-appreciate-em-up game. The update includes new quests, story updates, fan-requested features like NG+, and quality of life improvements. However, the most exciting news is the enhancement of the parkour traversal system, making jumping between rooftops even more exhilarating.

Personally, I believe that Assassin’s Creed’s core identity lies in its parkour traversal mechanics. Over the years, this aspect has lost some of its charm and creativity. The upcoming updates aim to restore the thrill and excitement of navigating rooftops, which is essential to the series’ experience.

The first update is scheduled for May and will introduce new parkour moves such as back-ejects, side-ejects, and the Vertical Ledge Jump. These additions will enhance the characters’ agility and provide more engaging traversal options. Ubisoft also plans to introduce additional parkour tricks and tweaks throughout the year.

Aside from the parkour improvements, the roadmap includes a higher difficulty setting and regular community feedback updates. It’s commendable to see developers responding to fan suggestions, although it can sometimes feel like a focus group session from The Simpsons’ Itchy and Scratchy show.
