Apple Could Launch The First Foldable iPhone Next Year

Apple is reportedly working on two foldable devices: a foldable iPhone and a large 20-inch foldable iPad.

The foldable iPhone is expected to be released first, with sources suggesting a launch targeted for 2026. On the other hand, the release window for the foldable iPad remains unknown but is likely to follow later.

The initial foldable iPhone model from Apple is expected to resemble the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6, offering a screen size equivalent to a regular phone while being able to fold up for more compact storage.

Reports indicate that the screen of the foldable iPhone will be larger than the iPhone 16 Pro Max, potentially featuring a screen size of at least 7 inches.

Apple is currently addressing technical challenges associated with foldable devices, such as minimizing visible creases in the screen, enhancing the hinge design, and developing a durable screen protector material to ensure a polished product at launch.

The foldable smartphone market experienced significant growth between 2019 and 2023, with a 40 percent year-on-year increase. However, growth is projected to slow to 4 percent by 2025.

Apple’s entry into the foldable market is expected to boost demand, as many potential customers appreciate the concept of foldable devices but are hesitant to leave the Apple ecosystem.

Apple is reportedly aiming to launch its first foldable iPhone in the second half of 2026 under the project name “V68,” which has progressed beyond the prototype stage.
