Anthony Duclair's return helps Islanders click with healthy forward group

TORONTO — After eight weeks, the Islanders welcomed back Anthony Duclair to their lineup, marking the return of a key piece that had been missing since his injury on Oct. 19. Duclair contributed with an assist as the Islanders secured a 6-3 victory over the Maple Leafs.

This win was significant as it was the first game in which the Islanders had a full complement of healthy forwards since Duclair’s injury.

The Islanders’ complete lineup translated into one of their best performances of the season, showcasing a newfound chemistry and cohesion on the ice.

Reflecting on his return, Duclair shared, “Felt good. Obviously tough to come back after nine weeks, but I felt pretty good overall. New linemates, trying to find the chemistry early. I think we had a good first period. Everyone was moving well. Definitely nice to come back and get a win for sure.”

While the Islanders are not yet at full health with players like Mike Reilly and Semyon Varlamov still sidelined, Duclair’s return marked a significant step towards fielding a complete lineup once again.

It’s believed that Duclair’s injury, officially listed as a lower-body injury, was related to his groin. Despite the setback, Duclair expressed his relief and excitement at being back on the ice.

With Duclair back in action, the Islanders are closer to their envisioned lineup from the start of the season. Coach Patrick Roy praised Duclair’s contribution to the team and highlighted the potential for further growth as they continue to play together.

Isaiah George returned to the lineup and made an impact by scoring his first NHL goal. Dennis Cholowski was a healthy scratch for the game.
