Angel Reese skips WNBA all-star event for Summer League game

Angel Reese Prioritizes Business

Angel Reese, a rookie for the Chicago Sky, made a bold decision by choosing to attend an NBA Summer League game in Las Vegas over the opening night of All-Star Game festivities in Arizona, seemingly taking a swipe at the WNBA in the process.

In response to criticism for her decision, Reese tweeted, “it’s ok babe. i’m minding the business that PAYS me. 🤭😘.”

While it’s unclear how the Summer League game contributed to Reese’s earnings, her comments shed light on the financial aspects of the WNBA and the need for supplemental income.

Although her decision garnered attention, Reese’s absence at the All-Star event in Arizona did not go unnoticed, especially as other WNBA stars like Caitlin Clark attended.

Despite the controversy, Reese’s on-court performance has been impressive, with 17 double-doubles in the Sky’s first 24 games.

It remains to be seen when Reese will join her All-Star teammates in Arizona, but her strong performance on the court has earned her a spot in the game.

Clark, who attended the events, expects Reese to shine on the court during the All-Star game, particularly in rebounding.

“She’s certainly probably going to lead the game in rebounds,” Clark said of Reese. “I expect that out of her, that’s just what she does.”
