This innovative feature allows users to run three different apps side by side on different parts of the tablet’s screen, leading to increased productivity. The functionality appears to be tailored specifically for Android tablets, leveraging the larger screen size for optimal usage.

Inspired by OnePlus’ Open Canvas multitasking feature, Google seems to be incorporating similar capabilities into Android 16. OnePlus introduced Open Canvas alongside their OnePlus Open foldable device in 2023, enabling users to run three apps concurrently alongside each other.

The release of Android 16 is anticipated in the second quarter of 2025, providing users with enhanced multitasking capabilities on tablets.
