Amy Robach, T.J. Holmes wanted to model divorce announcements after Gisele Bündchen, Tom Brady

Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes had planned to wait until finalizing their respective divorces before announcing their relationship, inspired by how Tom Brady and Giselle Bündchen handled their split. However, their plans were disrupted when their romance was exposed to the public.

On their “Amy & T.J.” podcast episode, Robach and Holmes discussed their admiration for Brady and Bündchen’s approach, revealing that they wanted to follow a similar path, but their relationship was revealed before they could do so.

Brady and Bündchen had announced their split and settled their divorce in October 2022, a month before Robach and Holmes were captured showing affection despite still being legally married to other people.

The co-hosts of “GMA3” mentioned that most people wait until their relationships are practically over before informing their friends and family.

“That was our plan,” Holmes stated. “You know who did it well? Gisele and Tom Brady.”

Robach added, “That was the model I was trying to follow.”

“Before announcing it to everyone, including some friends, I wanted the divorce to be filed in court so that any messiness or tumult is dealt with personally. By the time I announce it, things are calm, and we’re good. That was my goal,” Robach explained.

“That was their model and that was our goal,” Holmes added. “They announced the breakup and then revealed the divorce was finalized.”

Robach noted that announcing a breakup usually invites unwanted opinions from others, which she wanted to avoid.

“Once you say it’s a done deal, there’s no room for discussion. By that point, you’ve made up your mind, and you don’t want to hear what others think. It makes a lot of sense to me,” she said.

In November 2022, the colleagues were seen holding hands during a romantic trip in upstate New York.

At the time, Robach was still married to Andrew Shue and Holmes was married to Marilee Fiebig.

However, they strongly denied accusations of infidelity, stating that they were both consenting adults who were separated and in the process of divorcing.

Despite reports of them trying to reconcile, Fiebig was devastated by the situation.

Holmes filed for divorce from Fiebig in December 2022 after 12 years of marriage and shared an 11-year-old daughter, Sabine, with her.

Robach, who has two daughters with her first husband Tim McIntosh, quietly finalized her divorce with actor Andrew Shue in March 2023.

In a surprising twist, it was exclusively revealed by Page Six in December 2023 that Shue and Fiebig started dating after finding solace in each other amidst the turmoil.
