Amazon unveils a new and improved Alexa, Alexa+

Amazon unveiled an enhanced Alexa experience in NYC, powered by generative AI. Panos Panay, Amazon’s devices and services chief, described it as a “complete architecture” of the AI assistant during the event.

Panay emphasized the limitations of previous technology in achieving Alexa’s ambitious vision. He highlighted the importance of moving beyond just an AI chatbot to realize the full potential of Alexa.

The new Alexa can now provide personalized answers based on individual Amazon customer accounts. It can assist with tasks like notifying users about new event tickets and booking dinner reservations.

Panay highlighted the capabilities of the new Alexa, which include managing schedules, smart home devices, preferences, connections, and entertainment choices.
