All int’l flights shift to Pune airport’s new building, BA
All international flights from Pune will operate from the new terminal building of the airport, minister of state for civil aviation Murlidhar Mohol said.
“With the immigration and international flights getting shifted, it will be a major relief for the flyers. All necessary technical procedures are complete. I conducted a review of arrangements with the airport officials on Monday,” the minister, who is also the Pune MP, said.
Pune airport director Santosh Dhoke confirmed the same. “While all international flights will move to the new building, the domestic flights will remain operational from the old building. They will be moved to the new building in phases. There are operational reasons involved, and we cannot move everything in a hurry as order has to be maintained,” the director told TOI.
Currently, around 23 flights, including international flights, are operating from the old building. Pune currently has five direct international flights for cities including Dubai, Bangkok, and Singapore.
While IndiGo operates two flights to Bangkok and Dubai, SpiceJet operates one flight to Dubai. Air India Express operates one flight to Bangkok, and Air India (formerly Vistara) operates one flight to Singapore.
In the new terminal building, there are 10 immigration counters in the departure area and eight in the arrival area.
